PHASE 2:
Establish The Relationship

This is the phase when the student launches their relationship with the mentor by scheduling a "get-to-know-you" session to set the parameters for the relationship. Students are required to complete the learning plan prior to meeting with their mentor.

Student responsibility

Meetings in this phase will not count towards your minimum two official meetings required for every 12-months of current experience.

  1. PRE-MEETING WORK
    • Contact your mentor and set up a meeting either in-person, via teleconference, FaceTime or Skype within the first month of being matched.
    • Complete the first draft of your CPA Ontario Learning Plan and bring it with you to your meeting.
  2. DURING THE MEETING

Should my mentor document this meeting? No, documenting this meeting in PERT is not required.  Informal meetings in this phase will not count towards your two official meetings required for every 12-months of current experience, see Phase 4: Make Progress.

    • Agree to meet with the student within the first month of being matched, either in-person, via teleconference, FaceTime or Skype.
    • LOG INTO: The Centre for Mentoring Resources and review the recommend material in the "Establish the Relationship" section.
  2. DURING THE MEETING
